WATSONVILLE — The Watsonville Youth City Council unveiled “Our Reality” at the Second Street Café Monday, a photo exhibit that the youth say allows the young population to voice their concerns on public safety.

The photo exhibit, which will be displayed in the 28 Second St. café through May, was created by Renaissance High School’s Regional Occupational Program (ROP) photography students under the direction of teacher Karen Lemon and Martha Vega, records and property supervisor at the Watsonville Police Department.

“The kids really love to learn about photography,” Lemon said.

Each of the students' photo, with many showcasing youth in places around the city, has a title and personal statement about what the picture means to them.

Ivonne Brambila, a senior at Renaissance High, said her photos were about “letting people know that we have to keep the community safe.”
