CAPITOLA Filled with pictures and relics of Capitola's past, the Capitola Historical Museum will hold a grand opening celebration of its new exhibit, "Picture This Capitola by-the-Sea" today at 11 a.m.

The exhibit is paired with Museum Director Carolyn Swift's new book on Capitola's history, "Images of America: Capitola." The book, due out this summer, features more than 200 historical images of Capitola.

"Photos are the closest you can come to time travel," she said.

Swift, a local historian, said the book and exhibit is a result of years of photo collecting, scanning through old negatives that best show the beachside town's history.
