WATSONVILLE —After polling its members and hearing presentations from both sides of the highly contested Measure T, the Pajaro Valley Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture’s Board of Directors voted unanimously to oppose the measure that would annex 95 acres of working farmland into Watsonville city limits for potential commercial or industrial development.

Watsonville voters will vote on Measure T during a special election on June 4.

On March 27, at the chamber office at 44 Brennan Street, the chamber board of directors heard presentations from both Watsonville City Councilman Daniel Dodge in support of Measure T and Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau representative Chris Enright opposing the measure.

After hearing the presentations, lengthy discussions and seeing poll results from their membership, the board voted unanimously to oppose Measure T, according to board vice chairman Tom Karn.

Karn said a survey showed 81 percent of chamber members strongly opposed the measure.
