Juanita Vasquez Delatorre a lifelong resident of Watsonville passed away peacefully on March 24, 2013 surrounded by family after a short illness. Juanita was born on December 28, 1929. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Before retiring, she was employed by J. J. Crosetti Frozen Foods in the Personal Office. She was a member of Teamsters and past board member of the Watsonville American Little League.
Her passions in life were her children and grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally. She never forgot her trip to Hawaii or the cruise she went on with family. She enjoyed going to the casinos playing the dollar machines for hours and watching Seattle Seahawks football and San Francisco Giants baseball. She also enjoyed going to the beach, the movies flea markets, and Senior Circle activities.
She leaves behind her husband and companion of 35 years, Luis DelaTorre , three sons, Frank Paz (Donita) of Aptos, Arthur and Eugene Paz of Watsonville, three daughters Maria Teresa Paz of Watsonville, Dolores Navarro (Peter) of El Paso, Texas, and Anita Toal Taylor of Denver, Colorado, brother Nathan Valdivia (Gracie) of Watsonville, sisters Mary Ellen Cruz (Art), Dorothy Jackson (Keith) of Avenal and Alma Lerma (Joe) of San Diego. 10 grandchildren, Danny Paz (Katherine) of Germany, David Paz of Aptos, Trina Okrent (Eli) of Grass Valley, Michael Paz (Veronica) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Denise Paz (Nemo) of Santa Cruz, Pete Navarro Jr (Martha) of El Paso, Nicholas Navarro (Connie) of Australia, Steven Norton of Salem, Oregon, Katie Kriscunas (Paul) of Soquel, Carrie Toal of Scotts Valley, Jamie Toal of Watsonville and Nicole Bueno of San Jose. Great grandchildren Benicio, Ari, Isabella, Michael, Melanie, Dorian and Jack. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Juanita was preceded in death by her mother and step father Lena and Trinidad Valdivia, father Santos Bernardo Vasquez, brothers Vincent Vasquez, Gilbert Vasquez, Trinidad Valdivia and sister Eva Vasquez, son, Joseph Daniel Paz and grandson, Brian Paz
Her beautiful smile will be missed by everyone.
Viewing will take place at Ava Maria Memorial Chapel in Watsonville on Tuesday from 4-6 with a Rosary at 7pm. Interment will be Thursday at 10am at Watsonville Catholic Cemetery on Freedom Boulevard.
