SANTA CRUZ — Dominican Hospital on Monday began laying off employees from its rehabilitation center at 610 Frederick St., about a month after hospital administration announced the facility would be closed.
“The decision was made as part of the hospital’s ongoing work to meet the standards of California’s seismic safety law,” a message from Dominican Hospital's Communications Department stated.
The campus will be closed by Dec. 31.
In the message, the communication department stated that it “will be working with all affected patients and caregivers throughout the year to avoid gaps in care.”
