SANTA CRUZ — Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Lt. Robert Pursley attended his final roll call Wednesday as he wrapped up 33 years of service in the county.

Near the close of his final roll call dispatcher Val Conner announced a personal note for Pursley over the Sheriff’s 911 radio channel: “Thank you Lt. Pursley for 33 years of dedicated service to the citizens and county of Santa Cruz. The support you have shown toward those of us in dispatch has been especially appreciated. We are honored to have worked with you lieutenant. Lincoln 3 [his radio code name] we wish you well and Godspeed. Netcom clear at 15:35.”

Pursely, who said he worked under four different Sheriffs, said he relished his career.

“It has been an honor and a privilege,” he said. “This is a large and extended family that is very supportive of one another. It’s been through a lot of changes.”
