Poets' Circle continues at library

Modified: Monday, Mar 11th, 2013

WATSONVILLE — Lisa Simon finds inspiration from a number of well-known poets, and many of them are close to home in Santa Cruz, which she describes as a "dreamsicle of a poetry town."

"Such riches are out there and among my poet friends in Santa Cruz," she said.

Simon will be the featured poet Thursday during the monthly Poets' Circle at the Watsonville Public Library.

She counts poets such as Galway Kinnel, Sharon Olds, Adrienne Rich, Linda Gregg and Martin Espada among her many influences.

A native of Alabama, Simon’s poetry has appeared locally in the "Porter Gulch Review" and in the anthology, "Harvest from the Emerald Garden." She has read at the annual Celebration of the Muse event and she was a featured singer at the Flor y Canto Festival at the Cabrillo College Watsonville Center, sponsored by Poetry Santa Cruz.
