WATSONVILLE ó James Thomas DeMoss, a long-time resident of Watsonville, died peacefully on Thursday, February 28, 2013.†He was 93.
Mr. DeMoss was born in Prague, Okla. on Feb. 20, 1920 to John and Bertha DeMoss. As a youth he worked on the oil drilling rigs in Oklahoma. After moving to California he became a farmer and grew strawberries for more than 45 years.†His grandchildren were his pride and joy.†He enjoyed going to watch their sporting events and was very proud of all of them.
Mr. DeMoss is survived by his wife of 57 years, Evelyn DeMoss; his daughters, Nina (Ronald) Bowron, Denise (Bruce) Hoffman and Tina (Rod) Armer; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.†He was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis; and his sisters, Marie, May and Faye.
A graveside service will be held at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park on Thursday at 11 a.m. Arrangements were entrusted to Mehlís Colonial Chapel.
