WATSONVILLE ó Pedro Olvera Sr., resident of Watsonville, died on Friday, December 28, 2012 while visiting his daughter in Houston, Texas. He was 80.
Mr. Olvera was born in Brownsville, Texas, but it was in Watsonville that he and his late-wife decided to settle 51 years ago.†He worked as a foreman for many years in a local produce cannery.†He enjoyed working on his garden and on wood-working projects at home.†He liked to go fishing and enjoyed listening to music (Rancheras), watch novellas, and cook; but most of all and dearest to his heart, he loved be with his grandchildren.
Mr. Olvera Sr. is survived by his sons, Julian Olvera and Peter Olvera Jr.; his daughters, Evelyn Ruiz, Juanita Robles and Margie Limon; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Luz Olvera.
A Memorial Rosary and Mass will be held at Valley Catholic Church on Friday at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.† Arrangements were entrusted to Mehlís Colonial Chapel.
