WATSONVILLE — Flora Fernadez Rocha, longtime resident of Watsonville, died on Friday, March 1, 2013. She was 84.
Mrs. Rocha was born in Michoacan, Mexico on Aug. 16, 1929 to Benito Rocha and Maria de Jesus Fernandez. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved gardening and cooking. She enjoyed having company and always made sure her guest was happy and had plenty to eat. She was quite the story teller and shared tales about her life and her experiences.
Mrs. Rocha is survived by her sons, Gerardo, Luis, Gonzalo, Esteban and Juan Manuel Fernandez; her daughters, M. Guadalupe Sanchez, Rosa Rocha, Margarita Fernandez and Flora F. Castillo; 37 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Gonzalo Fernadez Magaña.
A visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Thursday from 3-9 p.m with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Valley Catholic Church on Friday at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
