APTOS — The Harbor High boys soccer team had only a few chances in the first half of their Central Coast Section Division III quarterfinal game against North Monterey County.

The Pirates made gold of some of those rare opportunities and then rode the momentum.

Harbor scored two goals in each half and defeated North Monterey County 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at Trevin Dilfer Field.

With the win, the Pirates advanced to the CCS semifinals, scheduled for Wednesday at a time and place to be determined. The third-seeded Pirates will be the higher seed in the matchup, given that their opponent will be 10th-seeded Menlo, which upset second-seeded Soledad 2-0 earlier in the morning.

Harbor’s first two goals came seven minutes apart, and both broke the momentum that North Monterey County had.

The Pirates got a goal in the 30th minute on a fast break. Seven minutes later, a one-timer went in.

North Monterey County got its first goal in the 46th minute. Juan Ramon Medina had a penalty kick blocked but got the rebound and kicked the ball in.

Angel Flores scored in the 78th minute off a pass from Medina.
