Man stabbed in Pajaro

PAJARO A Pajaro man was flown out by medical helicopter to a trauma center with major injuries Tuesday after he was stabbed in front of the Quik Stop market in Pajaro.

According to emergency dispatchers, two suspects, male and female, approached the victim in front of the market and stabbed him in the face and waist during a struggle around 3:30 p.m.

The victim was picked up by a car with two passengers, who attempted to drive him to the hospital, dispatchers said.

The green Pontiac was pulled over by police in front of Chase Bank on Main Street within minutes. The victim was then treated by paramedics and firefighters on the scene with heavily bleeding wounds. He was then taken by American Medical Response paramedics to Watsonville Community Hospital.

He was then flown by CALSTAR air ambulance to Regional Medical Center in the San Jose area.

The suspects are described as Hispanic, about 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and both wearing black jackets. They were last seen by witnesses running parallel to the Pajaro River levee near Gonda Street.

As of 5 p.m., no suspects had been located.
