The Santa Cruz Warriors traveled all the way to the other side of the country and had their best offensive output of the season.
The Warriors scored 120 points in defeating the Maine Red Claws 120-101 on Friday night in Portland, Maine.
Six players scored in double digits as the Warriors improved to 15-8 on the season. The win kicked off a seven-game road trip that will take them to several states.
Stefhon Hannah had 20 points and six assists. Taylor Griffin put in 18 points, while reserves Hilton Armstrong and Edwin Ubiles each had 17 points. Mickell Gladness contributed with 16 points, seven rebounds and two big blocks early in the game.
The Warriors started with authority, as Gladness got two thunderous dunks, and Cameron Jones contributed with a putback dunk for the teamís first six points of the game.
There were two lead changes early, as Maineís perimeter and three-point shooting kept them within striking distance, but Santa Cruz began to pour it on thanks to its fast-break prowess. A 7-0 run with 9:52 to go in the second quarter put the Warriors up for good.
Travis Leslie, making his return after more than a week off because of an injury, scored eight points in 11 minutes of play.
Unlike their previous home game in which offensive rebounds did them in, the Warriors took care of the glass, out-rebounding Maine 51-38. The Warriors had 18 offensive rebounds.
The Warriors return to action today when they travel to Massachusetts to face the Springfield Armor.
