Yarrow Sierra Lubbe

Former Resident of Santa Cruz County

Yarrow Lubbe passed away on December 22, 2012 in Monte Rio at age 40. Yarrow was born in Mi Wuk Village but moved to Corralitos as a two year old and attended Community Interplay School, Alianza, E.A.Hall Middle School, Watsonville High, graduating from Aptos High in 1990. She also attended Cabrillo College. She swam for Watsonville YMCA Piranhas Swim Team for the Cabrillo Threshers and Aptos High. She also participated in Junior Life Guards at Manressa Beach.

She loved music and played bass, drums, and sang in an all girl band called Booby Trap in the mid 90s. She loved traveling and went to Denmark and Germany after graduation with her friend Katie. Yarrow loved people and nature and lived in beautiful places like Kauai and Big Sur, where she met her boyfriend Pete. They lived in Guerneville for the past 5 years along the Russian River.

Yarrow started working in the restaurant industry as a teen at Pizza Amore in Aptos and learned every aspect of the business from serving, management, to running a wine tasting room. She loved the wine country, wanted to learn how to make wine, and earned her certificate in Wine Studies at Santa Rosa College. She was thrilled to participate in her first crush in 2012 for Woodenhead Winery. Yarrow encouraged others to pursue their passions and did the same. She participated in Burning Man and sky-diving. She made friends easily but also treasured her long time friendships. She will be missed by many.

Yarrow is survived by her boyfriend Peter Wasik of Guerneville, mother Ellen Moilanen and step-father Michael Block of Ben Lomond, brother Jonathan Lubbe of Corralitos, sister Regina Ozel of Carmel Valley, brother Mark Sapp of Denmark, grandmother Genevieve McEwen of Seal Beach, aunt and uncle Shirley and Cliff Walkey of Bend, Oregon, aunt Dixie Long of Huntington Beach, aunt and uncle Anne and Ernest Pringle of South Africa, aunt Marcia Moreth of Tenino, Washington, cousins, nieces, and many friends from all over. She was preceded in death by her father Loran Wayne Sapp, step-father William Peter Lubbe, grandparents Urho and Minerva Moilanen, and grandmother Marjorie Lubbe.

A Celebration of her life will be on February 2, 2013 at 1:00 at Lutheran Community Church, 95 Alta Vista, Watsonville with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Surfrider Foundation.
