SANTA CRUZ — A day after an exciting finish, the Santa Cruz Warriors were zapped of their hometown magic as they lost to the Bakersfield Jam 98-89.
Trailing by as much as 18 late in the fourth quarter, the Warriors cut the deficit to seven. Bakersfield called a time out to regroup and got some cushion back.
The loss was the first at Kaiser Permanente Arena, and it’s the second loss as the designated home team this season.
In addition, the Jam remained in first place in the West Division, improving to 15-7. The Warriors remained in second, a game back at 14-8.
The Warriors now head on the road for a season-long seven-game road trip which is scheduled to begin Friday in Maine against the Red Claws.
The next game at Kaiser Permanente Arena isn’t scheduled until Feb. 20.
