SANTA CRUZ Hours after the San Francisco 49ers locked up their sixth trip to the Super Bowl, Santa Cruz County fans of the red and gold were all smiles and proudly displaying their team's colors.

There was much happiness and some relief after the 49ers rallied from a 17-0 deficit to win 28-24 and win the NFC Championship over the Atlanta Falcons.

"I hi-fived everyone," said Betsy Lee of Santa Cruz, wearing a 49ers sweater moments before the Santa Cruz Warriors took on the Erie Bayhawks. "It's really amazing what the team did, what (quarterback Colin) Kaepernick did."

Lee said she was concerned even as Atlanta went up by three scores. But given what the Seattle Seahawks did last week in almost rallying from a 20-0 deficit, she still had faith.

"Just a little bit," she said.

The 49ers are back in the Super Bowl for the first time since 1995, when they whipped the San Diego Chargers to claim the franchise's fifth championship.
