GILROY Harbor High's Willy Lamacchia had the highest placing of any Santa Cruz County wrestler at the grueling 2013 Midcals Tournament, finishing second in the 136-pound division at the annual event Saturday at Gilroy High.

Lamacchia got to be a part of the spotlight showcase finals, where he faced Turlock's Isaac Bertalotto.

But two escapes and a takedown by Bertalotto was enough to prevent Lamacchia from getting the win, as the Turlock wrestler prevailed 4-3.

The loss was just Lamacchia's fifth on the season, as his record moved to 21-5. Despite the final outcome, he added to his impressive 2012-13 profile, which includes a third-place finish at the Coast Classic last month at Aptos High.

Harbor's Bryan Battisto won his final consolation match to take third place in the 154-pound division.

Watsonville's Chris Borba took fifth place in the heavyweight division, while Aptos' Caleb Phalen was sixth.

Aptos' Miller Clark finished seventh in the 140-pound division, while Ramon Zecarias was eighth in the 122-pound division.
