Art website would be first in the county, founder says

Posted: Thursday, Jan 17th, 2013

SCOTTS VALLEY — Scotts Valley Artisans is looking to tap into the large population of artists who reside in Santa Cruz County by creating a website for them to sell their art, but first it needs help from the community.

The fundraising campaign, set up on Indiegogo.com, will end in mid-March.

All the elements are in place to make the website a reality and launch in the spring, said Dawn Teall, founder of Scotts Valley Artisans.

“We’re ready to rock,” she said. “If everyone throws 10 bucks at it, we’ll actually get this funded.”

The online market will be available for all visual artists in the county, Teall said, and the plan is to accommodate as many artists as possible and every kind of art that is created in the county.

“It’s certainly the only one of its kind in the county,” she said.

To donate, visit www.indiegogo.com/santacruzartists. For those who donate $50 toward the website, they will receive one year of online sales space. For $150, they will receive a limited edition serigraph by Santa Cruz artist Laurie Zeszut, which is valued at $1,350.
