SOQUEL — Scotts Valley High freshman Emmy Koflanovich had two that-really-happened goals, and the Falcons’ girls soccer team held off Soquel 2-1 on a freezing Tuesday night at Soquel High Stadium.

Koflanovich scored in each half for the Falcons.

Her second one stunned the frozen crowd.

In the 69th minute, she emerged from the right side of the field with the ball about 25 yards away but near the sideline. As Soquel defenders started closing in, she fired a shot that, at first glance, looked to be too high and too wide to go in. But the ball dotted to the top left corner of the goal, and the Falcons celebrated the goal.

The Falcons spent the next 11 minutes holding off Soquel, who had turned up the pressure in the second half.

Soquel got a breakaway in the 75th minute, but Scotts Valley senior goalkeeper Emily Johnson was there to stop the Knights from getting the equalizer.

Johnson finished with five saves.
