WATSONVILLE — Margaret Ruiz of Watsonville died peacefully in her home on Monday, January 7, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was 77.
Mrs. Ruiz was born on February 19, 1935, in Moss Landing. She worked at Watsonville Community Hospital for 25 years. She was a caring kindhearted woman who always put others before herself. She enjoyed shopping, traveling with her daughters, watching her nightly novelas with her husband, and having family gatherings. She never missed a festival and loved the occasional ice cream sundae, Snickers bar, Starbucks and loved gardening.
Mrs. Ruiz is survived by her husband of 58 years, Oscar Ruiz; daughters, Veronica Olivarez, Susana (Jaime Heredia), Magdalena (Joe Murillo), Sandy Ruiz and Elizabeth (Theron Hildebrand); 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Angie Gay of Simi Valley and Maria Ramirez of Watsonville. She is preceded in death by her sister, Sandy Rodriguez.
A visitation will be held at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel today from 5-9 p.m. with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church with the burial to follow at Pioneer Cemetery. Pat and Debbie Carroll of Ave Maria Memorial Chapel have been entrusted with the arrangements.
