WATSONVILLE — Wilma DeAngelis Johnson died at home in Watsonville, on Friday, December 21, 2012. She was 89.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Albuquerque, N.M., raised in Long Beach, and moved to Watsonville in 1955.
She and William M. Johnson were married in Long Beach on Dec. 29, 1944. She worked as an expert seamstress for Colshire Pajama Factory for many years and served as the Treasurer of the Garment Workers Union during her tenure at Colshire. She later worked as a seamstress for O’Neill Wet Suits and Harts Fabrics. Mrs. Johnson served on the Salsipuedes School PTA and served as a Boy and Girl Scout Leader. She loved to garden and sew; taking great pride in making Halloween costumes for her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. on Dec. 28, 1996 and her three sisters. She is survived by her children, William Morton Jr, Christian Vance, Linda Sue, Sara Alexis, Martha Gail, Eric Jon and Adam Nels; 26 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Celebration of her life will be held on Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lawrence Ave, Watsonville, with reception to follow at the church. Memorial contributions to the church or the SPCA preferred.
