Cecil Gerald Weaver, Sr

WATSONVILLE — Cecil Gerald “Jerry” Weaver, Sr. died peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2013. He was 89.

Born Dec. 9, 1923, in Spring Hope, N.C., Mr. Weaver is remembered as a man dedicated fully to a life of service to God. One of his favorite sayings was, “Every Christian is a missionary.” He and his wife Lee of 66 years served with the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society in Congo from 1953-1989 as the mission treasurer and as Business Manager of The American School of Léopoldville/ Kinshasa (TASOL/K). Upon retirement, they settled in Watsonville to be near several of their seven children.

Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife, Lee; two sons, five daughters, 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

A memorial celebration for Mr. Weaver will be held Jan. 26 at 2 p.m. at The Terraces, 373 Pine Lane, Los Altos.
