WATSONVILLE — Rick Danna is expected to be appointed to the Watsonville Planning Commission tonight during the Watsonville City Council’s meeting.
Danna, 48, a realtor with Bailey Properties, said his 25 years of experience in Watsonville real estate will be a plus on the commission.
“This is right up my alley,” he said.
Danna will fill the District 7 seat of Betty Bobeda, who will be appointed to the city’s Personnel Commission.
Danna previously served on the city’s Redistricting Committee in 2010 and the Santa Cruz Planning Commission from 2008 to 2010. He will resign as chair of the Personnel Commission.
“This is an area I have more knowledge,” he said about the Planning Commission.
Once on the commission, Danna said he plans on working with other real estate agencies in the county and see how south county is viewed.
To improve the city’s reputation, Danna said a good place to start would be the neighborhoods, addressing parking, code enforcement and other issues.
“Our neighborhoods could use a good looking over,” he said.
Danna said he is looking forward to the opportunity to serve on the commission.
“There’s a good group of people already there,” he said. “At the end of day, I hope I could do something to help the city of Watsonville.”
The Watsonville City Council is expected to appoint new members to the city’s various boards and commissions during its meeting. It will meet today at 6:30 p.m. in the Watsonville City Council Chambers, 275 Main St., fourth floor.
