WATSONVILLE — Wataru Eto died on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Watsonville Community Hospital. He was 89.
A native of Watsonville and lifelong resident of Watsonville, he graduated from Watsonville High School. Mr. Eto served in the U.S. Army, 442d, during World War II. Following the war he returned to Watsonville and continued farming strawberries until he retired.
Mr. Eto is survived by his three sisters, Ruth Yamamoto of Santa Cruz, Barbara (Ted) Wada of Watsonville, and Hatsuko Imoto of Lindsay; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Tom, Mitsugu and Harry Eto.
Private family services were held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. Inurnment will take place at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park. Donations to the Watsonville Buddhist Temple are preferred.
