Community members share their holiday spirit

WATSONVILLE Caroling, Christmas trees, toys and more filled California Giant Berry Farm's cooler in Watsonville Friday during KSBW-TV and the Salvation Army's annual "Share Your Holiday" event.

The 26th annual event was televised live across five locations in Santa Cruz and Monterey counties.

Last year, $93,600, 7,424 toys, 9,019 pounds of food, 994 turkeys, 868 pounds of clothes and 346 blankets were donated, according to KSBW.

"Everything that is donated stays local," said Brittany Nielsen, KSBW anchor. "It goes a long way to helping people in need."

Community members were asked to donate canned food, frozen turkeys, unwrapped toys or cash/check. The goods were donated to Salvation Army.

"The Salvation Army is such an integral part to the community," Nielsen said.
