SANTA CRUZ — A Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Deputy on Friday arrested a man who has been on the lam since he walked away from the Rountree Detention Facility in Watsonville Sept. 10.

Blaine Richard Collamore, 22, was taken into custody in the north part of Santa Cruz, the sheriff’s office reported.

Collamore was in custody for first-degree burglary, possession of narcotics, drug paraphernalia and burglary tools, receiving stolen property and providing a false identity to a police officer.

Martin was serving time for receiving stolen property, obstructing a police officer and impersonating a public or private official. He faces new charges of vehicle theft, residential burglary, escape and resisting arrest.

According to deputies, Collamore and fellow inmate Bryan Martin, 29, were on their way to a recidivism reduction class when they walked away from the medium security facility.

The escapees were reportedly on their way to meet two acquaintances in a getaway vehicle, but when they saw the acquaintances getting arrested by they broke into a nearby home and stole clothes, credit cards and a blue 1995 Honda Civic.

Daniel Ballard, 32, and Stephanie Underwood, 25, were charged with abetting an escape and booked into Santa Cruz County jail on $5,000 bail.

Martin was arrested three days later after a citizen saw Martin in Lighthouse Field in Santa Cruz and called police.
