Hawks win CCS academic award

The Mount Madonna High girls volleyball team received the Central Coast Section Scholastic Championship Award Wednesday afternoon for having the highest grade point average as a group.

The Hawks combined to have a 3.876 GPA. Itís the fourth highest average among all teams in all fall sports, according to the CCS.

Mount Madonna was one of several county teams honored by the CCS but was the only one to finish in the top in their sport.

Aptosí boys cross-country team finished second with a 3.681 GPA, while Pacific Collegiate was fifth at 3.605.

Aptos was fourth in girls cross-country with a 3.784 GPA, and the Aptos girls tennis team was third in their sport with a 3.777 GPA.

Each of the aforementioned teams will receive certificates from the CCS later this year.
