SANTA CRUZ Pacific Gas & Electric announced Friday that they have deployed four new mobile command vehicles to help streamline communication at emergency scenes.
Monica Tell, external communications, said one of the vans, which were previously used in New York, will be used on the central coast to speed up communication with not only other PG&E personnel, but their customers, and law and fire officials.
The vehicles provide valuable information to emergency personnel in the field and are packed with the tools our crews need to address emergencies, including a 3,000 watt on-board generator, three workstations, laptops, satellite phones, radios, and a radio controller that allows the operator to connect PG&E radios with other radios for police, fire and highway patrol. Tell said.
The timing of the deployment could not have come at a better time as a powerful storm system surged through the central coast Thursday night and into Friday.
