WATSONVILLE — George B. Lazo Jr. died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at VA Palo Alto. He was 70.
Born in 1942 in Watsonville, he attended Watsonville High School and graduated in the Class of 1960 and shortly thereafter joined the U.S. Air Force in 1960. He was stationed at Lackland AFB San Antonio, TX., Vandenberg AFB, and Beale AFB Marysville, and served on the 851st Strategic Missile Squadron.
Mr. Lazo enjoyed playing bingo, going to the movies, watching antique roadshow and poker tournaments on television and reading. He loved music and dancing to old school songs. He was an avid fan of the 49ers and SF Giants. Most pride of all, he loved being surrounded with all his children, grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his children, Yolanda (Ernest) Bernal, George Lazo III, Timothy (Raquel) Lazo, Renae Lazo of Salinas and Steven (Melissa) Lazo of Gonzales; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; siblings, Don (Sylvia) Lazo, and Marcella (Louie) Mateo, and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ave Maria Chapel at 609 Main St. in Watsonville. Memorial will be from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be private.
