WATSONVILLE — A series of Pacific Northwest storms, packing high winds and drenching rains, has forced city officials to reschedule the annual Holiday in the Plaza, which was slated for Saturday.
Snow Day and a plaza lighting ceremony have now been reset for Dec, 9, said Doug Mattos, senior administrative analyst.
“We decided it was best to reschedule for December 9th for safety reasons,” Mattos said. “Right now it looks like a lot of rain and wind are in store. Above all, we want community members to have a fun in a safe environment.”
On tap is Snow Day, a mountain of manmade snow for kids to frolic on, that runs from 3 to 6 p.m. At 6 p.m. the main switch will be thrown to illuminate the plaza with thousands of Christmas lights, many draped over 35-foot Christmas tree made possible by an anonymous donor.
