Posted: Saturday, Nov 10th, 2012

SANTA CRUZ — Aptos High’s football team is once again the ruler of the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League.

There’s nobody that can take that away from the Mariners. And nobody’s going to share it with them, either.

The Mariners won the league title outright on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Harbor 48-14. They finished the league campaign 6-0 for a second consecutive season.

Five different running backs scored touchdowns, including Aaron McAnerney, who had a touchdown and 108 yards on the ground. He scored the first touchdown of the game, racing past defenders 45 yards to put the Mariners ahead 7-0 with 6:08 to play in the first quarter.

Quarterback Alex Joh threw for a touchdown, finding Alec Bonsall for a 19-yard hookup to the put the Mariners ahead 21-0. The play happened right after Harbor muffed a kickoff.
