State Proposition 36, which seeks to ease the restrictions of the Three Strikes Law, was leading by a wide margin in early voting Tuesday night.
With about 15 percent of the vote in, Proposition 36 was leading with 68 percent of the vote, or 2,510,996 yes votes.
The measure revises the law to impose a life sentence only when a new felony conviction is serious or violent. The law may authorize the re-sentencing of someone if the third-strike conviction was not violent.
