Mary C. (Mello) Burk

WATSONVILLE — Mary C. Burk, longtime Watsonville resident, died in Auburn on Tuesday, October 2, 2012. She was 98.

Mrs. Burk was born in Laton on Sept. 13, 1914 to Joe C. and Jesuina Mello. She was known for her outgoing personality, sense of humor, smile, helpfulness, and doing things “her way.” She was very active in the Portuguese community of Watsonville and throughout California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; her parents; sister, Elaine; brother, Frank; nephew Eugene; and son-in law D.B. Moore. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Moore; one grandchild, one great-granddaughter; brother, Joe D. Mello; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, 2401 E. Lake Ave, Watsonville, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. Graveside services will be Monday at The Lemoore Cemetery in Lemoore at 10 a.m. A reception will follow the service at the Portuguese hall in Stratford.
