Velda May Corbly Dillon

Velda May Corbly Dillon on October 3, 2012 went to live with her Heavenly Father. Velda was born on October 12, 1922 and left us a few days before her 90th birthday. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Dale B. Dillon,of Watsonville, California. Also, preceding her were first born son, David Gerald Dillon, also of Watsonville, her parents Charles and Ethel Corbly, Watsonville and her sister, Joy Latham of Marysville, California

She is survived by two sons, Douglas Dillon, Vonore, Tennessee, Donald (Maureen) Dillon,Pittsburgh, PA. One grandson, David Dillon, Covington, LA and a great granddaughter, Ashlyn Beth Dillon, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Two brothers, Earl Corbly of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Ray Corbly, Watsonville, CA.

Velda was a longtime resident of Watsonville, California before moving to Pittsburgh 11 years ago. She was a loving and supportive wife and wonderful and nurturing mother. She raised three fine sons, providing a home filled with so many fond memories. Always home when her boys came home from school, she supported their activities by being a Cub Scout Den Mother, and volunteering for the Pony and Little League Baseball organizations, cooking the best meals, and providing a clean and safe environment. She was a longtime volunteer serving meals to Veterans at the VFW. Velda with her husband, Dale, had many great memories of their retirement years traveling and seeing many beautiful vistas throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada while helping Dale look for Indian Artifacts. She graced her elder years with her positive attitude and non demanding nature until the very end of her life.

Graveside service on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 11:00am at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park in Watsonville, California. Ave Maria Memorial Chapel is making the arrangements. Please join us after the service for refreshments and light lunch hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW at 1960 Freedom Boulevard, Watsonville, CA. Contributions preferred to the Ladies' Auxiliary of the VFW.
