WATSONVILLE — The Watsonville Planning Commission is expected to approve expanded hours and entertainment options for El Miramar Restaurant and Bar tonight, four months after the business was hit with reduced hours due to reported violations.
According to a report by Assistant City Manager Marcela Tavantzis and Senior Planner Suzi Aratin, owner Juan Yepez Garcia complied with the terms of his permit and the requirements for operating a business with alcohol sales during the four-month period.
Since the June 5 decision to reduce hours, no complaints have been received from the neighbors, and the Watsonville Police Department reported no incidents at the restaurant, the report stated.
The restaurant came under fire due to the fatal stabbing of Brandon Gil in March outside of its premises on 522 Main St.
Upon closer examination, the police discovered two incidents of minors drinking in the bar, a DJ playing amplified music on several locations and no exterior security cameras installed in the rear of the business, according to city staff. For the complete article see the 10-02-2012 issue.
