Gilroy boxer Robert Guerrero traveled to Mexico City on Wednesday and received the WBC world championship belt.
Guerrero defeated Selcuk Aydin last month at the HP Pavilion in San Jose to win the championship belt. It’s Guerrero’s sixth championship win in a different weight class. It was also his first fight since an injury that sidelined him for nearly a year.
“I want to thank the WBC and their entire organization along with Golden Boy Promotions for giving me the opportunity to fight for the WBC title,” Guerrero said in a statement. “I take great pride in wearing the green belt and will continue to fight the best that come my way.”
