Lila Carlon passed away on Wednesday August 22nd. She was 87. Lila was born in Kinsley, KS. She grew up around Goleta, Ca. and attended local schools both there and in the Hollister area before settling in Watsonville. She was the oldest of 14 children and was a hard worker and an avid reader who loved to play bingo, crochet, and tending to her rose garden. She was dedicated to providing the best opportunities to her children and helped raise grandchildren Madeline and Mitchell Carlon, of Watsonville, from the day they were born until she became too ill. A beloved Mother and Grandmother she had an exceptional talent for cooking and also loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Lila is preceded in death by her parents Eluterio and Pasquela Falcon Sanchez, her son Joseph Carlon, her brothers Eluterio ‘Babe’ Sanchez Jr., Robert Sanchez, Peter Sanchez, Jesse Sanchez as well as her sisters Jennie Martinez, Lupe Escudero, Josie Ynegas, Rita ‘Dee-Dee’ F. Sanchez and Elizabeth Sanchez. She leaves behind her former husband David Carlon and their children Florence Carlon of Salinas, David Carlon of Mississippi, and Randy J. (Margarita) Carlon of Watsonville, and her sisters, Fanny Escudero of Yuba City, Condie Gonzales of San Jose, Mary Quintana of Ventura and Carol Sanchez of Hollister. She also leaves her grandchildren, David Carlon III of Watsonville, Vincent Carlon of Colorado, Phillipe Carlon of Emeryville, Leah Syfert of Sacramento, Tara Carlon of Oceanside, John Paul Carlon of Mississippi and Andrea Carlon of Pennsylvania and numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Her family and long-time friends will remember her quiet and gentle nature fondly.
