Waves win two more games in Florida

The Waves 13-under baseball team based in Watsonville won its latest two games, one being in the double-elimination bracket, earlier this week at the USSSA Elite World Series in Florida.

The team’s latest win was a 7-0 shutout against the Diamond Dreams Longhorns of Iowa in bracket play.

Jonah Shabry pitched 4 2/3 innings for the win. He allowed two hits and struck out four. Matt Gillette went 2 for 3, and Ruben Ibarra hit a home run.

Earlier in the tournament, the Waves defeated the Miami Titans 10-1 in five innings.

Blake Diggle smacked two home runs and tallied six RBIs to lead the Waves. James Gomez Jr. also hit a home run, and Joseph Chalco went 2 for 2 with a double.
