CASTROVILLE — Linda Cobos Ramirez, long time resident of Castroville, died on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer at her home surrounded by her family. She was 65.
Mrs. Ramirez was born in Fresno on Dec. 1, 1946 to Saulo and Inocencia Cobos. She attended school in Watsonville, including Watsonville High. Mrs. Ramirez worked as an Instructional Aide for the N. Monterey County Unified School District for 37 years, retiring only a couple years ago. She loved going to casinos and playing video poker.
Mrs. Ramirez is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joe Ramirez; sons, Joey Ramirez of Castroville, Jacob (Grace) Ramirez of Watsonville, and Samuel Ramirez of Tempe, Ariz.; brothers, Angel (Frannie), Frank (Olivia), Rico (Rosie), Merced (Sheila), David, and Phillip (Idie) Cobos; sisters Saula “Julie” (Rudy) Ramirez and Patsy (Oscar) Quintana; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur, Rudy, and Anthony Cobos; and sister, Rebecca Marabilla.
Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on today from 5-9 p.m. with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Parish, 11140 Preston St., Castroville with burial to follow at the Castroville Public Cemetery in Moss Landing.
