WATSONVILLE — While students have been enjoying their summer vacation, a string of break-ins and acts of vandalism have been reported at district schools.
According to Brett McFadden, chief business officer for the Pajaro Valley Unified School District, from May until the middle of July there were 17 incidents that included break-ins, attempted break-ins and vandalism.
The district’s staff has also reported finding drug paraphernalia and used condoms at school sites.
“We dread Monday mornings,” McFadden said. “What is it we’re going to discover?”
McFadden, who has worked at several school districts, said the problem seems especially bad here.
