Resident of Castroville
December 1, 1946 – August 1, 2012
Linda Cobos Ramirez, long time resident of Castroville, passed away on August 1, 2012 after a brief and courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer at her home surrounded by her family. She was 65.
Mrs. Ramirez was born in Fresno, CA on December 1, 1946 to Saulo and Inocencia Cobos. She attended school in Watsonville, including Watsonville High. On August 14, 1966 she married her beloved husband, Joe Ramirez. Mrs. Ramirez worked as an Instructional Aide for the N. Monterey County Unified School District for 37 years, retiring only a couple years ago. She loved going to casinos and playing video poker. She was a spontaneous traveler and enjoyed driving to Reno, Tahoe and other destination at a moment’s notice. She was quite the hostess and loved to cook for her family, host dinner parties, and loved having friends and family over for company. Her family will forever remember her love and compassion for all. She had a gift for making people feel special.
Mrs. Ramirez is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joe Ramirez; her sons, Joey Ramirez of Castroville, Jacob (Grace) Ramirez of Watsonville, and Samuel Ramirez of Tempe, AZ; her brothers, Angel (Frannie), Frank (Olivia), Rico (Rosie), Merced (Sheila), David, and Phillip (Idie) Cobos; her sisters Saula “Julie”(Rudy) Ramirez and Patsy (Oscar) Quintana; and her grandson, Gilbert Valenzuela Ramirez. She was preceded in death by her parents, Saulo and Inocencia Cobos; her brothers, Arthur, Rudy, and Anthony Cobos; and her sister, Rebecca Marabilla.
Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Thursday, August 9th from 5 –9 P.M. with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 P.M. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 10th at 11 A.M. at Our Lady of Refuge Parish, 11140 Preston St., Castroville with burial to follow at the Castroville Public Cemetery in Moss Landing.
