WATSONVILLE — The November race for the Pajaro Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees, where three seats are open, could feature candidates running against no one unless others file papers to run by the Aug. 10 deadline.
If only one candidate is running for a seat, they will be automatically appointed, Santa Cruz County Clerk Gail Pellerin said.
Trustees Sandra Nichols and Doug Keegan have said they don’t plan to seek reelection, and no candidate has yet expressed interest in Karen Osmundson’s seat.
Watsonville resident Maria Orozco announced Monday her intention to run for the Trustee Area 6 seat, currently held by Nichols.
Meanwhile, former educator Lupe Rivas is vying for the Trustee Area 2 seat that Keegan has held for eight years.
