WATSONVILLE —It had to happen.
Nachos, no longer satisfied with playing second fiddle to popcorn at the movie theater or being relegated to late-night munchie runs at 7-11, have finally found their way to the main course menu at a stylish new restaurant in Watsonville at 15 First St., next to Don Rafa’s Supermarket.
Nacho Mama’s elevates nachos to a place not seen since the Italians started adding cheese and ground up tomatoes to their flatbread and gave the world pizza.
“We wanted to take nachos off the appetizer menu and make it a main course,” said co-owner Alfredo Muñoz, who was inspired by the hip restaurant culture of Portland, Ore., and the specialty food trucks of Los Angeles.
