WATSONVILLE — The Tri-City Little League All-Star team put an emphatic stamp on its final game of the season, defeating River Park 10-0 in the championship of the Northern California 10-11 Tournament.
In its three games to get to the grand finals, Tri-City had to sweat out several battles against teams hungry to send them packing.
On Friday, Tri-City had its grip on the game from the start.
Eight of the runners who scored came home because someone hit a home run. Dominic Souto led the way with two home runs.
His second, which came in the fifth, ended the game via the 10-run mercy rule. He jumped on home and was soon mobbed by his teammates, who whooped it up in celebration.
