WATSONVILLE — The River Park Little League All-Star team didn’t stop believing.
The Fresno-based squad had the final say and made the most of it.
Jack Winn hit a game-winning two-run home run, his third of the tournament, and River Park defeated Almaden North 7-6 on Monday evening at Ruso Field in the Northern California 10-11 All-Star tournament.
“When I crossed home plate, I was blown away and excited,” Winn said.
With the win, River Park will play in the winners bracket finals Wednesday.
River Park had to rally from a couple of deficits throughout the game. Three of their five hits in the contest came in the final inning, and all were huge.
With one out, T.J. Fondtain hit a home run to centerfield to pull River Park within 6-4. After a weekend where more than a dozen home runs were hit, Fondtain was the first to finally send one deep post-weekend.
