WATSONVILLE — Aggressive speed and heart-pumping action is what Watsonville native and Endurocross racer Cody Webb lives for.
“Our heart rate is racing the whole time, and I know that I have the speed to win,” he said.
After placing second in the third round of the 2012 Geico AMA EnduroCross Championship in Los Angeles on July 1 — the event was part of X Games 2012 — Webb wants more.
“I really want to move on and get my first win before the end of the series this year,” Webb said. “Now that we have a large break in the series, I really need to put my head down and get serious about training.”
This was the second time Webb, 24, competed in the X Games, which is televised nationally on ESPN. But Webb doesn’t let the thought of millions watching him get to his head.
“I block everything having to do with people watching my race out of my mind,” he said. “I focus on the race just as any normal endurocross in our series.”
Not even a little nervousness?
“Yes, I was very nervous,” Webb said. “But I got done what I needed to do and I was so stoked.”
