Fairgrounds considers nonprofit status

WATSONVILLE — With hopes of keeping the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds open, the leadership team is considering adopting nonprofit status, fairgrounds manager Dave Kegebein said Friday.

The subject was raised at a meeting at the fairgrounds Wednesday, and it will be discussed in more detail at a special night meeting on July 24.

“We are exploring our options,” Kegebein said. “It’s a long term strategic planning effort.”
