LOS ANGELES — A man who was initially arrested in the beating of Bryan Stow outside of Dodger Stadium last year but was later cleared has sued the Los Angeles Police Department for defamation.
Giovanni Ramirez filed his lawsuit Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court and seeks unspecified damages.
Ramirez was arrested but never charged in the brutal beating of Stow, a former Santa Cruz County paramedic. Ramirez's lawyer insisted his client had never been to Dodger Stadium, but police said for months they had arrested the right suspect.
Two other men have since been arrested and charged in Stow's beating
Los Angeles police declined comment about the lawsuit.
