WATSONVILLE — Julie Talbot drove to one of Watsonville’s 25 fireworks booths Monday to purchase a massive pack of flaming whirlygigs that she and her family will light off Wednesday as they celebrate Independence Day.
But Talbot, who works in the emergency room at Watsonville Community Hospital, insists that nobody will be in danger.
“We do it right,” she said. “Play it safe and have fun. We don’t want anyone to get hurt.”
That’s good news to emergency workers across the county, who will be out in force Wednesday night, looking for anyone with illegal fireworks or who is partying excessively.
