Posted: Monday, Jun 18th, 2012

WATSONVILLE — Alice Mae Manger died on Friday, June 8, 2012. She was 92.

Born in Los Angeles to George and Bertha Bradford, she lived in Watsonville for 55 years and was known as “Gram.” She was a member of the Women’s Bowling Assoc. and won many 200-235 bowling pins. She loved restoring furniture, crocheting, dump diving, gardening (especially cactus), pie baking and collecting driftwood. She loved her 1972 VW Baja Special.

She is survived by her children Robert (Naomi) Manger and Carol Shallenberger of Watsonville; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a step-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert James Manger in 1997; and her brothers George and Floyd Bradford

A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in her honor to Hospice of Santa Cruz County or the Grey Bears. Ave Maria Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
